IS TELEVISION DOOMED?
Are TV SET TOP BOXES becoming a thing of the past?
Are we on a collusion course for more mobile screens then there are Television sets in households?
Do we even have time to watch TV PROGRAMS anymore?
Well some would most certainly say that this is the case. As mobile technology grows, and devices get larger in screen size it seems the good old days of rugging up in front of the Telly are soon to be a thing of the past.
With more then 3x smartphone devices per household and an ever increasing raise in the amount of tablet devices are now being used. It certainly seems that TV are now outnumbered by their smaller cousins 3 : 1 and as the cost for mobile technology decreases their is surely to be a time where TV are just no more.
Sure we have SMART TV capability and 4K pixel clarity, both seem like amazing innovations within this space but yet the market seems uninterested in moving towards these products purely because other devices do exactly the same thing at a more desired price point. (Not to mention portability and customisable options to boot)
Who has time to watch TV now days? In this face paced world it seems more likely for people to download, stream, book or record any episode from any program movie or music video ever made with one click on your mobile device.
Granted nothing beats a 70 inch movie theatre experience, with the family watching Dirty Dancing and eating pop corn but these moments are becoming more and more rare as we all consume the latest that mobile technology has to offer.
So is it the TV Technology experts that have missed something? or are they simply to late behind the eight ball to capitalize on the latest trends that consumers want to buy? Who knows all we can really be sure of is that as one screen grows dimmer another 3 or 4 smaller ones will take its place and the movement has already begun.
